Obituary

WILLIAM EDWARD GREVE, 78, formerly of Ocean Grove, died July 31, 2006, at Meridian Nursing and Rehabilitation of Red Bank, NJ after a long illness. Born in Great Barrington, MA, and raised in the Bronx, NY and Great Barrington, Bill was a long time dairyman with a deep affinity for the farming life. A member of the Austerlitz Grange and the Extension Service of Columbia County he loved to talk 'cow.' An active member of the Congregational Church of North New York, the second oldest integrated church in the United States. Mr. Greve served on its Board of Trustees, Board of Deacons, Pulpit Committee, and Housing Committee. He was also a Sunday School sexton, teen chaperone and delegate to the United Church of Christ. Upon retiring Bill moved to Ocean Grove where his willingness to lend a hand earned him Ocean Grove's Man of the Year Award in 1988. An avid gardener, many of the local yards still bear his imprint. Bill also loved stamp collecting and all manner of puzzles. He is survived by his sisters Edith Lory of VT, and Lois Greve of NJ and his niece Janet Wallace of VT. Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers a contribution to the Congregational Church of North New York, 411 East 143rd Street, Bronx, NY 10454 would be appreciated.
