Thomas K. Barbur, 84, of Avon NJ, died onWednesday, February 11, 2015, at Manor by the Seain Ocean Grove, NJ. Tom grew up in Greenwich, NY, and graduated from Greenwich High School in 1949. He was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Elizabeth Barbur and his sister, Marion Morse. Tom attendedMorrisvilleState College, where he played basketball and baseball, graduated in 1951,and wasinducted intothe Morrisville State Athletic Wall of Fame. Tom then attendedHartwickCollege in Oneonta, NY, where he graduated in 1955. He wasHartwick'sbasketball teamcaptain andanall-time leadingscorerwith 1,178careerpoints.Tomranked as one of the top free-throw shooters in the nationand, during his final collegegame,hescoreda record-breaking 42 points.He was inducted into theHartwickAthletic Hall of Famein 1998.Following college, Tomserved in the United States Armyat Fort Monmouth, NJ. During his earlyyears, Tom livedon adairyfarm.This experienceguided him towarda30-year careerin salesand marketingofagricultural equipmentforInternational Harvester (later Case IH) in New York, NewEngland and the Midwest.Tomwasanavid golferandhome renovator.Most of all, heenjoyed spending time with his familyand cherished friends. He was adevoted husband, father and grandfather.Heis survived by his wife, Genevieve (neeYoungs),his two children, Linda Henderson and Peter Barbur, and his three grandchildren,Timothy, Elisabeth and Reid Henderson.A memorial service will be held at 11:00 on Thursday, February 19, 2015, at Saint Andrew's United Methodist Church in Spring Lake, NJ.In lieu of flowers, donationscanbe made to Saint Andrew's UMCMemorial Fundor theWick Athletic Association atHartwickCollege.
