Ruth Wanda Von Spreckelsen passed away on June 19, 2017. She would have been 90 on June 27th. Ruth will be missed by family and friends. After graduating from Somerset Hospital nursing school, Ruth was an emergency room R.N. at Robert Wood Hospital and later at Somerset Hospital. She then worked at Fitkin Hospital while completing her B.A. in Nursing at Jersey City College. After Post Graduate work at Children's Hospital in Washington, D.C., Ruth was the school nurse for Garfield Elementary School. She retired from the Board of Education in Long Branch. Ruth lived in Ocean Grove much of her life and was a Charter Member of the Historical Society. Ruth liked to volunteer for the Red Cross and was on her church Alter Guild for 30 years. She traveled the world with friends. Ruth is survived by her sister, Marie Campbell, her nieces and nephews and their families. Relatives and friends may call on Thursday from 10:00 AM with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home 118 Main Avenue Ocean Grove. Interment will follow at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent. In lieu of flowers, family would like donations to go to Atonement Lutheran Church, 308 First Avenue, Asbury Park N.J.
