RUTH A. HANCOX, a resident of OCEAN GROVE for more than 70 years, died Friday, September 3, 2010 at home. A 1938 graduate of Neptune High School, she was actively involved in community organizations until her death at age 89. Youth-related organizations such as the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, youth choirs, the Ocean Grove Recreation Commission were better for her contributions. Her volunteerism continued in local politics, the Shore Action League and the Anne Forrester Circle of St. Paul's United Methodist Church after her retirement as Social Editor of the Ocean Grove Times. Ruth was predeceased by her husband Jonathan Hancox in 1981. Surviving are her son, Jonathan Mark Hancox of Bradley Beach, her daughter, Pamela A. Kline of Sarasota, FL, two grandsons, Jonathan of Washington, DC and Matthew Kline of Tallahassee, FL, and her sister, Barbara Bennett of Neptune. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove on Wednesday, September 8th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon . A private graveside service and interment will follow.
