Mildred Marklein French passed away peacefully on January 10, 2023, surrounded by her family. A proud graduate of Bellevue Nursing School in Manhattan, Mildred went on to serve patients at Cabrini Hospital, Point Pleasant Hospital and Green Grove Nursing Home. Later in her career Mildred enjoyed being a substitute school nurse in Belmar and Manasquan. The mother of four children, Mildred's happiest days were spent managing the Baptist Cottage in Bradley Beach, which she ran for the Evergreen Baptist Church in Brooklyn. Her days at the beach with her children made them lifelong beach lovers. Born in Brooklyn, Mildred moved to Queens upon her marriage to Walter Marklein. In 1978 she moved to Manasquan, NJ with her youngest son. Later she moved to Neptune City. Mildred was predeceased by her parents, William and Lillian Ward, sisters Lillian and Evelyn and Mildred's beloved husband Walter. She is survived by her children, Lyn Marklein, Walter (Nelly), William (Diane), and Richard Marklein; grandchildren Daun (Dan) Wilcox, Cheryl Ade (Matt), Leia LaForte (Jason), James and Christopher, and five great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Tower Lodge Care Center for the excellent and compassionate care Mildred received there. Burial will be private. The Ocean Grove Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.
