MARY HENRIETTE HENDRIKSON died October 2, 2010 in New Haven, Connecticut. She was 91 years of age. She was born Mary Henriette Saaren on February 12 , 1919 near Kadrina, Estonia and graduated with honors from secondary school. She worked in a foundling home and orphanage before her marriage to Oscar Hendrikson, an attorney and special envoy to the Estonian State Department. They emigrated to Sweden and then to the United States and became United States citizens. Mary continued her collegiate studies in family life education receiving her Masters Degree from Columbia University Teacher's College and continued on as a doctoral candidate. She taught Special Education in the Jackson Township School system until her retirement. She was a member of the church council at the Estonian Lutheran Church in Lakewood NJ. She continued her education after retirement as a student at the Yale Divinity School in New Haven, Connecticut. She is survived by her two sons, Matt Hendrikson and his wife, Ligia, and Dr. Robert Hendrikson and his wife, Helen, three grandchildren, Matti, Henriette, and John Arthur, and three great-grandchildren: Astrid, Nils, and Sonja. A private graveside service will be held at the Hamilton Methodist Cemetery in Neptune. Donations to the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association, 54 Pitman Avenue, Ocean Grove, NJ. 07756 would be appreciated.
