Maria L. Ricciardi, 97, of Morristown, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home on April 15, 2026.

Born on June 14, 1928, in Naples, Italy, Maria lived a long and full life centered around her family, her faith, and the simple joys that brought people together. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great aunt (Grant) whose presence was a steady and guiding force for those who knew and loved her.

Maria had a deep love for cooking and took great pride in bringing family together around the table ensuring each family member's favorites were represented. These were coveted family recipes learned, created and shared from her father Vincenzo Capuozzi and taught to all who wished to learn.  Their way of cooking was, of course, the right way.

Later in life she began a teaching career after first graduating with honors in Italian from Montclair State University. She extended her love of learning the Italian language to the classmates of her grandchildren teaching after school Italian class. Maria also enjoyed golf and cherished the time spent with loved ones both on and off the course.

A devout Roman Catholic, Maria's faith was an important part of her life and a source of strength and comfort throughout the years.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Frank J. Ricciardi; her daughter, Allison (Philip); her son, Frank (Dina); and her cherished grandchildren, Kayla Ponturo, Kyrsten Ponturo, Nicholas Ponturo, Robert Ricciardi, and Cara Ricciardi. Maria is predeceased by her siblings Rita Fitzsimmons and Ciccio Capuozzi. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Known for her fierce protection of her family, friends, and unwavering spirit, she was, at her core, a woman of immense kindness and generosity.  There was nothing that she would not tackle on behalf of her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.  Her heart knew no limits nor did her devotion to her family. Maria's legacy of love, strength, and devotion will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Visitation will be Thursday April 23 at 10:00 AM at St. Vincent De Paul Roman Catholic Church, 250 Bebout Road, Stirling with a funeral liturgy beginning at 11:00.
