MAE C. DETURK, 89, of OCEAN GROVE, formerly of Union, died Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at the Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Mae was born in Newark, June 21, 1917, to parents Harriet and James McCance. She married Jackson L. DeTurk on Feb. 12, 1944. She was employed by the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association until retiring in 1989. Prior to that she was the office manager for the United Methodist Northern New Jersey Conference. Mae was an active member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and a long time member of the Union United Methodist Church. Mae was predeceased by her husband, Jack, in 1980 and her beloved son, Tommy in 2004. Surviving her are children, Lew & Kathi DeTurk of Raleigh, NC, Carol & Austin Alvarez of Gales Ferry, CT, Joanne DeTurk of Colonia, NJ, a dear friend, Richard Harper of Ocean Grove, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A graveside service was held at the Hollywood Memorial Park, Union, NJ on Sat., June 2nd at 11 AM. A Memorial Service followed at 3 PM at the Francis Asbury Manor, 70 Stockton Ave., Ocean Grove.
