KATHLEEN J. DOWLING, 57, of Shark River Hills, NEPTUNE, died on Friday, April 13, 2007, at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune after a struggle with cancer that began in 1982. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and entertaining family and friends in her home. She had a keen interest in politics and national affairs and gave generously of her time and money to support Democratic causes on the local, state and national levels. In 1999 and 2000 she served as a volunteer on the Bill Bradley for President Campaign in New Hampshire. She loved her home on the hill overlooking the river where each year she eagerly anticipated the first warm breezes of spring. Her smile, her sparkling personality and gentle spirit will be missed by all who knew her. Mrs. Dowling was a 1967 graduate of Neptune High School. Born in Paterson, NJ, she was a lifelong resident of Neptune. Surviving are her husband, Michael W. Dowling, three sons, Joseph Davison of Jackson, Michael T. Dowling of Oceanside CA, currently serving as an officer with the 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines in Ramadi, Iraq, and his wife, Lauren Dowling and Christian Dowling of Neptune, a brother, Brian Walker and a sister Patricia Rothacker both of Rochester, NY, and two grandchildren, Joseph Davison of Harpers Ferry, WV and Michael Dowling of Oceanside, CA. A funeral service was held at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove on Thursday morning April 19 at 10:00 AM. Friends were invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9.
