JOYCE A. NEWMAN, 74, of OCEAN GROVE, died Wednesday, October 24, 2007, at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. She was a bookkeeper, most recently working for the Church of the Precious Blood, Monmouth Beach. She was a very active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Manasquan and was a member of the Ocean Grove Ladies Fire Auxiliary. She had served on the Monmouth County Board of Elections and had volunteered at the Jersey Shore Medical Center for many years. Born in Spring Lake, she was a graduate of Manasquan High School and lived in Spring Lake before moving to Ocean Grove 43 years ago. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald R. Newman in 1998, by her parents, Henry and Esther Anderson and by her sister Greta Gifford. Surviving are two sons, Mark A. and his wife, Karren, of Hamilton and Robert D. and his wife, Allison, of Wall and five grandchildren, Lindsay, Courtnay, Ian, Madison and Calista. A funeral service was held at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Main Street and Osborn Avenue, Manasquan on Monday morning, October 29th at 10:00 with interment following at Monmouth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls. Friends were invited to call at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9. In lieu of flowers, a contribution to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 6 Osborn Avenue, Manasquan 08736 would be appreciated.
