Joseph Rocco Caivano of Whitehouse passed away on June 5, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on January 29, 1934, he lived a life devoted to family, faith, service to his country, and commitment to his community. A proud first-generation Italian American, Joseph served in the United States Army, serving in Japan. He worked as a Union carpenter and also served with distinction in the Millburn Fire Department, retiring with the rank of Captain. Joseph was predeceased by his beloved wife, Carol Ann Vitelli, with whom he shared 64 years of marriage. He is survived by his children, Joanna Musa, Samuel Caivano, Mark Caivano, Susan Holden, Michael Caivano, and Dina Caivano; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many other loving family members and friends. Relatives and friends were invited to attend a viewing on June 10 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse Station. A Funeral Mass was celebrated on June 11 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 390 Route 523, Whitehouse Station. Interment took place on June 12 at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Short Hills.
