John G. Jack Preacher, of Shark River Hills, Neptune, died Wednesday June 18, 2014. He was born in Perth Amboy, grew up in Woodbridge and graduated from Woodbridge High School in 1955. Mr, Preacher was a machinist mate in the US Navy, serving on a destroyer. He worked at National Lead in Sayreville, Hydro Labs, and Hydro Med Science in New Brunswick as a lab technician. He then worked as a machinist for Millennium Cell until his retirement. Jack was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Ocean Grove, served on the executive board of the Shark River Hills Homeowners Association and was an avid car enthusiast, who enjoyed working on cars. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Anna Preacher. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Dolores Preacher, his son David Preacher and his wife Kathy of Summit, his daughter Beth Ibbetson and her husband Michael of Warwick, NY and three triplet grandchildren, Emma, Deanna and Miranda; his brother Robert Preacher and his wife Carole of Peach Tree City, GA and his godchild Dr. Erik Hanson and his wife Dr. Ingrid Hanson of New Paltz, NY. A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 21 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul's United Methodist Church,80 Embury Avenue, Ocean Grove. In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Paul's United Methodist Church Food Pantry 80 Embury Avenue, Ocean Grove, NJ 07756 would be appreciated.
