Janet Smith, a lifelong resident of Ocean Grove, passed away January 27, 2021. Janet was born on July 4, 1932. She studied math at Bucknell University and went on to complete her master's degree at Rutgers University. Janet married her grade-school sweetheart and the love of her life, Howard, with whom she raised two children and traveled the world. She was an educator for 27 years in Neptune Township, first as a high school math teacher, then serving as the district's Mathematics Supervisor. Janet was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother, a strong and resolute woman, and a talented educator. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 67 years, Howard L. Smith; her children, Howard L. Smith, Jr. (Judy) and Judy Smith Rector; grandchildren: Katie (Paul), Elizabeth (Mark), Jennifer (Pau), Howard (Renata); and great-grandchildren, Paul, Zoe, and Lucas. Funeral services will be held privately. Memorial donations may be made in Janet's name to the Ocean Grove Church food pantry.
