Helen
Fehrs
d. Jun 12, 2012
Helen Fehrs (nee Little), age 93, passed away on June 12, 2012 in Ocean Grove, NJ. Helen, born September 21, 1918 in Manhattan, NY, was a first generation American; her parents William Glover and Lititia Little emigrated from Ireland. Her brother, Harry, sister Letitia, and stepmother Betty preceded Helen in death. Helen met her future husband, Herman Fehrs, at Ebinger's Bakery in Brooklyn where they both worked at the time. After 43 wonderful years of marriage, Herman died in 1986. Overcoming her loss, Helen continued to pursue the activities she and Herman had enjoyed including travel, bowling, and entertaining family and friends. Helen was an active member of the United Methodist Church for most of her life participating in the choir and Women's Circle in the communities where she lived including Roosevelt, NY, Hillsdale, NJ and Toms River, NJ. Her skill as a homemaker led her to a second career as a Home Health Aide after her children were grown. Her family lovingly recalls Helen's enthusiastic spirit, her sharp wit and ingenuity, her love of music and beautiful singing voice, her generous nature and her devotion to her family. Helen is survived by her three children: daughter, Janet and her partner Tom Patterson of Cedar Mountain, NC; daughter, Barbara and her husband James Piccarello of Red Bank, NJ; and son, Donald his wife Maureen and their daughter Elaine Bridget, Helen's beloved granddaughter, of Michigan City, IN. Additional family includes two nephews and a niece. The family gratefully acknowledges the care Helen received from the staff of both Francis Asbury Manor and Manor By The Sea in Ocean Grove.
