EDWARD ROBERT WERNER, 80, of OCEAN GROVE, died Friday, February 17, 2006, at the St. Barnabas Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Long Branch. Mr. Werner had worked as a salesman in the commercial refrigeration and air conditioning industry until retiring. He was a member of the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society, the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association Auditorium Ushers and the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association Shuffleboard Club. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Ocean Grove, Chaplain for the Nutley First Aid Squad and a member of the Ocean Grove Homeowners Association. Mr. Werner enjoyed hook rugging, needlepoint and embroidery. He was his childrens' handyman. He served in the US Navy and was a veteran of WW II, . Born in Newark, he lived in Nutley for 59 years, then in Silver Ridge, Toms River for 17 years before moving to Ocean Grove three years ago. Before becoming a permanent resident of Ocean Grove, he summered here for 37 years in a tent at 2 Bethany Block. He was predeceased by his parents Edward and Wilomena Beier Werner, by his brother Albert Werner and by his sister Wilma McDougal. Surviving are his wife, Lois Arensman Werner, two daughters and sons in law, Patricia, and her husband Dan Noxon, of Millstone Township, Heidi, and her husband Bob Santin, of Hamilton Square, NJ, two sons and daughters in law, David Werner and his wife, Kathleen, of Forked River, Richard Werner and his wife, Annette, of Doylestown, PA, his sister-in-law, Mabel Werner of Ocean Grove and 12 grandchildren. A funeral service was held at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove on Sunday, February 19th at 4:00 PM. Friends were invited to call at the funeral home on Sunday from 1-4. In lieu of flowers, a contribution to the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association's Now and Forever Fund, or to the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association Shuffleboard Club both at 54 Pitman Avenue, Ocean Grove, N. J. 07756 would be appreciated.
