Doris Ruth Zuidema (Dooley) 91, holding the hands of angels slipped away peacefully on July 25, 2022 joining her beloved husband John. Born September 27, 1930 Doris was a loving and devoted wife for 71 years, sister, aunt, mother of 5 children and Nana Doris to 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.Daughter to Charles Cameron Dooley and Ruth Drew Dooley she spent her childhood years in Paterson and Pompton Lakes, NJ. Summer vacations in Avon nurtured her love for the Jersey shore. Withstanding a Valentines Day blizzard in 1950 Doris married John in St Elizabeth's Episcopal Church, Ridgewood NJ. Soon after, they commenced upon building their life family in a home built by John ( brick of course) in Oakland NJ. After 19 years in Oakland, they moved the family to Ocean Grove, briefly adventured in Williamsburg, VA returning to Ocean Grove for their final chapter. In her 91 years no dust settled under Doris's feet as not a day existed that went unfulfilled w/ a special something meaning offered to every human, community, or animal in her path. She wove a tapestry of lifelong friends young and old and counted these amongst her greatest blessings. No one was a stranger to Doris believing life was about loving all offering anything she could . She had an ability to manifest the impossible.A master in motherhood she raised five children, was an adoring grandmother aunt and a mentor to many young women. She held varied positions of employment enjoying all from Assistant in Dental Medical practices, Sales-team at Steinbachs and her specialty nannying infants and young children. Doris was a member at Broadway Baptist Church in Paterson, NJ attended St Paul's United Methodist Church in Ocean Grove, NJ. Passionate about civic duties, nature and animals she lent her time volunteering with School PTA's. Monmouth County SPCA, Ocean Grove Women's Auxiliary and the Beautification Beach project. She will be remembered always for her joy of life, unwavering faith, kindness, cheerfulness, fearlessness great love of family and her pets. She was predeceased by her husband, John D. Zuidema in 2021 and by her brother, Cameron Charles Dooley predeceased. Surviving are her children, Linda Kopp (Robert Kopp predeceased), John Zuidema Jr. (Carolyn Wagner), Nancy Martin (Gary Martin), Douglas Zuidema, Kristen Oneidas (Glenn Oneidas), her Grandchildren: Robert Kopp, Melissa Kopp D'Alessio (David D'Alessio), John III, Cameron and Christopher Zuidema, Tess and Caroline Martin, Ryan and Camryn Oneidas and her Great Grandchildren: Estella and Noah D'Alessio, Tahlin and Tyler Schwartz Remembrances may be made in her name thru donations to the Monmouth County, NJ SPCA. The family is immensely grateful to the wonderful staff at Manor by the Sea in Ocean Grove for their tender and compassionate care provided. Interment will be held at Valleau Cemetary, Ridgewood, NJ A Memorial Service is planned October 8, 2022 at Ocean Grove Church (St. Pauls) 80 Embury Avenue, Oceam Gorve.
