Doris Jean Westfall Hones passed peacefully in her sleep on May 16, 2026 at Seabrook Villages, Tinton Falls, NJ. She had just turned 94 in January and celebrated with her children and grandchildren.

Jean spent over 40 years as a successful realtor in Neptune Township and before that in Bergen County and qualified many times for the Medallion, President's Clubs and the New Jersey Association of Realtors Million Dollar Club.

Jean moved to Ocean Grove in 1992 where she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Great Auditorium Ushers and served time as the chairman of the Social Committee.

She was also a Life member of the Ocean Grove Historical Society, a former docent at Centennial Cottage and a hostess for the summer and Christmas Tours. She served as secretary and President of the 0cean Grove Chamber of Commerce volunteered at the Algonquin Arts Theater, Manasquan and was co-president of the Monmouth Symphony League of the Monmouth Symphony Orchestra.

Jean was an active member of the League of Woman Voters since the early 60's and served as the President of the Pascack Valley League of Woman Voters for the year 1990 – 1991. She always maintained a membership in The League and A.A.U.W.

Born January 12, 1932 in Buchannon, West Virgina to Lois (Talbott) & Ray Westfall she was the 5th of their 12 children.

After graduating from business school she moved to Charleston, WVa to work for Union Carbide where she met and married her husband Leonard Hones in 1957.

Jean was preceded in death by her Husband Leonard, her sisters Margaret Opelt, Betty Stalnaker, Ruth Westfall, Helen Reed and her Brother's Dana, Richard, Warren, and Kent.

Jean is survived by her sister Karen Conner (Larry) and brothers David (Karen) and Steven (Ann), her 3 children Leonard (Barbara), Lorraine (Daniel Adelberger) and Lawrence (Dana) and her five Grandchildren Kyle and Daniel Janick, Taylor and Christopher Hones and Heather Hones.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday May 29 at 11:30 AM in the Chapel at Monmouth Memorial Park 4201 Route 33 Tinton Falls, NJ 07753.
