Obituary

David Rosen of Ocean Grove died peacefully on January18th in the company of loved ones. He was 62. David was born in 1961 at Elizabeth General Hospital and resided in Colonia. A graduate of Colonia High School and University of NC at Charlotte, David graduated with a business degree in 1983. After graduation he returned to NJ to join his family business, Oasis Auto Center in Old Bridge. In the late 1990's David and partner Len turned their attention to the restoration and reinvention of Nagel's Pharmacy in Ocean Grove, creating a destination shore soda fountain and old time restaurant. Antique apothecary items lined the display cases. Ice Cream queues on summer nights snaked around the Main Avenue corner with piano sing alongs on weekend nights. David was passionate about travel and his Victorian reproduction home in Ocean Grove. He enjoyed gardening, beautifying his home, and entertaining. He loved sports and was an avid follower of Rutgers Scarlet Knight athletics. He was a Scarlet Knights football season ticket holder. David's care for his partner, family, friends and community was generated by his big loving heart. He is survived by his beloved partner Leonard Steen (their beautiful cats, Jay and Nick), parents, Helen and Irving Rosen of Old Bridge, sisters Donna Valenti (husband, Anthony) and Robin Rosen (wife, Abby Hoffman), brother Ronald Rosen (wife, Teri), as well as nephews Ryan Gresh, Jesse Valenti and Tyler Rosen, niece Jen Moloney (husband, Patrick), great nephew Cameron Moloney and great niece Callie Moloney, niece Amanda Feldmeier (husband Tom). David's close and devoted friends are too many to name.Cremation is private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please donate to the charity of your choice.
