Obituary

Chervine Lamb, of Shark River Hills, passed on Thursday June 8, 2023. She and her first husband Russell Lamb taught ballroom and Latin dance in Belmar and surrounding communities in the 1960's. After that, she co-owned Aluminum Installations in Neptune before taking her love of plants and opening a plant store in Asbury Park. After helping with her maternal grandmother's illness, she became a Registered Nurse, graduating in 1984. She worked at Point Pleasant, then Brick Hospitals specializing in Oncology Nursing for 18 Years. She then worked as a Hospice Nurse at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Cherv was an intrepid and adventurous traveler, visiting the Caribbean Islands, England, Spain, Mexico, Brazil, Belize, Costa Rica and Venezuela, enjoying much of it with her partner of 40 years, Brian Ellsworth or her sister, Melanie. She was a devoted daughter, granddaughter and niece, helping to care for all of her family. Always an dedicated environmentalist, she became a Master Gardener after retiring. An animal rights advocate, she was always surrounded by her much loved dogs and cats. A lifelong reader and grateful patron of the Neptune Public Library, she enjoyed her life, her books, her gardens and most of all her animal companions. Chervine had lived in Shark River Hills since the 1960's. She was predeceased by her father, Mel Jenssen, by her mother June Rossien, by her step father Leon Rossien and by her beloved, Brian Ellsworth. She will be beyond missed by her friends, by her brother Michael Melnick and his family of Ormond Beach, Florida and by her sister Melanie Nowlin and her partner Frank Matthews of Loch Arbor. Visiting hours will be from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Thursday June 15 at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove. In lieu of flowers, contributions to an animal charity of your choice would be appreciated.
