Obituary

Anna M. McHale, 83, of Ocean Grove, died Wednesday October 15 at home after a long illness. A native New Yorker, Anna raised her family in Hillsdale, NJ, before moving to Rutherford. A summer resident of Ocean Grove from 1963, she moved there permanently in 2002. Anna was predeceased by her husband John in 1989. She was always involved in her church and community, and had a great love of travel. She was a learning specialist in the Park Ridge, NJ school system throughout her long professional career, and was proud to be the volunteer Snake Lady at the Liberty Science Center after her retirement, continuing her long career as an educator while enjoying again her lifelong love of snakes. Her active volunteer activities included Hospice and the Ronald McDonald House in Long Branch. Surviving are her daughter, Anna (Alfred, NY); her son, John (Palmyra, PA); 5 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild. Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, October 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove and on Thursday from 1 p.m., with a funeral service beginning at 2:00 PM at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 80 Embury Avenue, Ocean Grove. Interment will be Friday at 11:00 AM at Monmouth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to Mary's Place by the Sea, 15 Broadway, Ocean Grove, NJ, www.marysplacebythesea.org or to your charity of choice .
