Raymond Olson, 82, of Ocean Grove, passed away on Wednesday, January 25th, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. He was born in Briarcliff Manor, NY, and grew up in the suburbs of Albany, NY before going on his honeymoon to Ocean Grove where he lived with his family for the rest of his life. He worked as a school bus driver for more than 30 years until his retirement. He was an active member of St. Pauls United Methodist Church in Ocean Grove. He drove the church van bringing church members to and from the Sunday worship service. He had a deep appreciation for Ocean Grove and a passion for taking daily walks on the boardwalk throughout the year. He was a devoted fan of the NY Mets and the NY Giants. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Surviving are his beloved wife of 52 years, Jeanette, his son, Raymond, Jr. and his wife, Ruth, and his daughter, Connie Robinson, and her husband, Joe, and two grandchildren, Logan Robinson, and Joey Robinson, his wife, Maria, and his great grandson, Oliver Robinson. Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, February 2nd, from noon to 2pm for visitation and a funeral service beginning at 2pm at Ocean Grove Memorial Home 118 Avenue St in Ocean Grove. Internment will follow at Monmouth Memorial Park in Tinton Falls. Donations can be made in his memory to St. Pauls United Methodist Church in Ocean Grove.
David Donald Douglas, 60, of Ocean Grove died January 5, 2017. David had been the owner of Daves Hobby Shop and a member of St. Pauls United Methodist Church, both in Ocean Grove. He also volunteered for the Ocean Grove Citizen Patrol. David was predeceased by his parents, Benjamin and Florence Douglas. Surviving are his brother Wayne, his cousins, Carol and Jay Stigelman and Larry and Ann Bostick, his devoted caretakers and loving friends, Derek and Elaine Parish and many friends and fellow members of St. Pauls who helped him along his way. A memorial service will be held at St. Pauls United Methodist Church, 80 Embury Avenue, Ocean Grove on Tuesday January 17 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the St. Pauls Angel fund or the Ocean Grove Citizens Patrol would be appreciated.
